Committee Duties

One of the best ways to get involved with your chapter is to volunteer to be on a committee. Serving on a committee is a great way to meet other chapter members and to improve your leadership, public speaking, and business writing skills in a supportive environment.

Communications

  • Prepare and publish chapter newsletter
  • Send out announcements for upcoming meetings and events
  • Take photos at chapter meetings and events to post on chapter website
  • Maintain and update chapter website
  • Update social media content for upcoming chapter meetings and events

Membership

  • Send membership packets to new members
  • Answer questions from new members
  • Follow up with guests and send them a membership information packet
  • Respond to information requests from potential new members
  • Encourage member involvement through committee participation
  • Maintain list of current members in chapter database
  • Contact non-renewing members

Program

  • Coordinate with Communications committee to send out invitations for chapter meetings and events
  • Secure speakers for chapter meetings and for the continuing education program held the day of the Public Relations Dinner
  • Determine speaker's audio/visual needs and coordinate with the meeting location
  • Select location and menu for chapter meetings and events
  • Give head count to restaurant based on reservations received
  • Check in members and guests at chapter meetings
  • Prepare name tags for meeting attendees
  • Introduce speaker
  • Distribute speaker evaluation forms at each chapter meeting
  • Prepare and retain CPE forms

Public Relations Dinner

  • Solicit donations from local businesses for the basket raffle fundraiser
  • Secure keynote speaker for Public Relations Dinner
  • Select venue and menu for Public Relations Dinner
  • Design invitation for Public Relations Dinner and coordinate with Communications committee to send out invitations
  • Prepare and print program brochures for Public Relations Dinner
  • Assign table to each member and guest
  • Recognize scholarship winners at the Public Relations Dinner
  • Order flowers for past presidents attending the Public Relations Dinner
  • Order gift for immediate Past President
  • Prepare name tags for dinner attendees
  • Assemble baskets for raffle fundraiser
  • Send thank you letters to basket raffle donors

Scholarship

  • Contact area colleges and universities to promote scholarship program
  • Review scholarship applications and select winners
  • Invite scholarship winners to attend the annual Public Relations Dinner to be recognized for their achievement
