January 2019 Print

President's Message

Thank you to members and guests that attended the Annual Regulatory & Economic Update on January 16th.  Michael Seelhoff, CPA and Rachel Deaton from Bland & Associates gave an update on the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act that will impact the 2019 tax-filing season.

We are excited to welcome Pam Hernandez from The Right Reflection to speak at our February 21st meeting. Pam will present on how unconscious bias patterns that women face can lead to self-limiting beliefs. Registration is now open for our February meeting. We will be offering 1 CPE credit.

It’s hard to believe that our Public Relations Dinner is quickly approaching! We have a fantastic keynote speaker confirmed and are close to finalizing speakers for continuing education that will be offered in the afternoon. Save the date on your calendar, May 7, 2019, it will be here before you know it.

The Omaha chapter will open the spring scholarship application within the next week. Scholarships will be available for Undergraduate and Graduate students of accounting and finance.  Deadline to apply is March 30th. We recommend applicants also apply for scholarships available through The Foundation which are due on April 1st.

We are accepting board member nominations for the 2019-2020 year. Serving on the board of the Omaha chapter of the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance is a great opportunity to deepen your leadership skills and meet new people. If you are interested in learning more about serving on the board, please email me at [email protected]. I would be glad to talk to you and share more about this opportunity.

Quick reminder to log into the website for both the Omaha chapter and National website to update your member profile. We would like to keep in contact with you so we can send you information about upcoming events.
