Monthly Chapter News

As the chapter year draws to a close, let’s take a look back at the meetings and events held this past year.
In November we hosted a meeting to review the benefits of AFWA membership. The December meeting was a social at The Makery to make a holiday craft item and included a cookie exchange. We started the New Year with a meeting about Building a Winning Team and Work Culture. At the end of April we held our spring social at Locked Room Omaha where we successfully made our escape. Our annual Fund Raising Dinner was held in May. At the basket raffle held in conjunction with the dinner we were able to raise $400 for our education fund.
A big thank you to all the members and guests that attended these events. We appreciate your continued support of the Omaha chapter.
The chapter year is drawing to an end but this summer the Board of Directors will be planning the meetings and events for the next chapter year including the chapter’s 50th anniversary. Please contact [email protected] if you have any suggestions for speakers or events you would like to see in the future.

Get Involved
Everyone has a role to play in the success of the Omaha chapter. By working together we can bring about positive changes and grow the chapter.
Serving on the Board of Directors or on a committee is a great way to make an impact for the future. It’s also an opportunity to build relationships with your fellow members.
No special skills are required for these positions. There is a place for you even if you can only serve for a few months. Each of us can make a difference if we just take that first step and volunteer.
Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in a specific Board or committee position.
Scholarships
We received the following information from the Nebraska Board of Public Accountancy and the National Association of Boards of Accountancy. Please share the attached flyer with anyone who meets the eligibility requirements and could benefit from this opportunity.
Native Forward is an organization offering scholarships and funding for the CPA Exam to American Indians and Alaska Natives who are enrolled in US federally recognized Tribes or state recognized Tribes. The organization supports Native students who have taken or plan to take the CPA Exam.
The funding cycle for Native Forward closes on June 30, 2025. It is their goal to ensure that these funds are fully utilized to support Native scholars pursuing their professional credentials.
