Monthly Chapter News

Will you be my Valentine?

Valentine's Day is a time to remember everyone we hold dear to our heart - family, friends, furry friends, and our AFWA family. Of course what's a holiday without cards, flowers, and chocolate!

Our January meeting featured Moniki Gunn, Founder of Put Me In Coach Consulting and Director of Employee Relations at Boys Town. Her presentation on Building a Winning Team and Culture was well received. The key to achieving a winning team and culture is communication. Take time to learn more about your fellow employees. It can be done through one on one meetings or simple ice breaker topics at staff meetings. Communicating goals and policies ensures everyone is working together to achieve those goals.

The April meeting will be a social event to celebrate the end of tax season. Watch for details in future newsletters.

In May we will be hosting the annual Public Relations Dinner. Look for details below on how you can volunteer to help with this event.

Happy Valentine’s Day from your AFWA family!

Nominating Committee

The nominating committee is seeking members to serve on the 2025 – 2026 Board of Directors and to serve on various committees. The nominating committee will be contacting members to fill these positions.

Serving on a committee or the Board of Directors is a great way to add to your skill set and to expand your network. At the same time you will be ensuring that the chapter continues to thrive and serve our members in the future.

The Omaha chapter will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026. We all share a piece of what has made this chapter a success. Please consider serving so we may carry that success forward to the next group of leaders.

Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in a specific Board or committee position.

Public Relations Dinner

The chapter will be hosting the annual Public Relations Dinner later this spring. This event is an opportunity to showcase the chapter’s accomplishments for the year and to recognize our scholarship winners. The highlight of the evening is the basket raffle to raise funds for the chapter’s scholarship and education fund.

The success of the dinner depends on the planning done by the Public Relations Dinner committee and the basket raffle donations contributed by local businesses. The Public Relations Dinner committee will be forming soon. There are many steps involved in creating this event. Even if you have a limited amount of time available you can still find a way to assist the committee.
